Lady Buffs open regional tournament play with 100-45 pasting of Fort Chiswell
Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffs, the No. 1 seed in Region C, Division II girls basketball, opened the regional tournament Tuesday night with a 100-45 destruction of Ford Chiswell.
Amanda Hollingsworth led scoring with 19 points and four steals as the Lady Buffs notched another win in a stellar season while perennial rival Glenvar, who knocked Floyd out of the regionals last year, was eliminated Tuesday night by Patrick Henry Glade Spring 47-44.
The Lady Buffs face James River, which beat Chilhowie 62-60, in a Thursday night match.
The Floyd boys team faces Grayson County at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Independence.
