The night time is the right time…

…for road construction — at least along Virginia Rte. 8 in Montgomery County between Riner and the Floyd County line. Road crews have been widening the shoulders and repaving the highway for a few weeks now and you can be stopped for as long as 20 minutes going and coming during the evening hours. It looks like the paving is almost complete to the bridge at Little River so the project should be over shortly.
Actually I believe that they have been told that they are going all the way to Floyd now. May want to check on that to be sure.
I am glad that I drive 221 to work now instead of Rte 8.
My concern about this is that they are “leading the way” to Floyd with the road widening. I think there are already enough commuters on Rte 8, most of which are leaving Floyd for work. The widening of the road may bring them in the other direction too. It is like a double edged sword.
