Floyd County wins! State Finals Saturday
Floyd County’s Lady Buffs defeated a determined Lee High School Generals 62-47 in the State Basketfall Semi-Finals Friday and will defend its state title from last year against George Mason at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Britney Avancini (above) led scoring with 28 points, followed by Britney Bourne with 9, Brandy Phillips with 6, Carmen Bolt 5 and Emily Thompson and Amber Quesenberry with 4 each.
Floyd led from the outset and never gaveit up, although Lee closed the lead to eight points at one point and outscored Floyd in the third quarter 13-11 but the Buffaloes controlled the game throughout.
George Mason lost to Floyd in the state semi-finals last year.
