Getting some ink

Drew three nines in a motorcycle poker run benefit for Dalmatian Rescue of Southwestern Virginia Sunday (yes, we rode in the rain).

That three-of-a-kind hand took the grand prize: A $300 tattoo from Asylum Studios in Salem.

Ohmigod! Did he say tattoo?

Yep. At 61, I’m getting some new ink. Amy decided she wanted a tat when she turned 50 and she got a nice one of a parrot from an ex-con in Belleville, Illinois.

I’ve been considering some new body art for a while now but never got around to making a decision or taking the step.

Now, with a certificate for $300 worth sitting in my wallet, I’ve got to make some decisions:

  • What design to get?
  • Where to put it? (And I get a lot of advice on where I can put things)
  • And when to have it done.

Suggestions are welcome. It will be motorcycle-related, so keep that in mind.

Wow congrats on the three of a kind on the run. Makes the ride in the rain a little more worth it. You are never to old to get new ink. Good for Amy to getting
    one also.

Well what to get?.you could think of having a dalmatian
in it in honor of the poker run. Make a trip to the shop and talk to them tell them the kinds of things that you love about riding the motorcycle and have them draw you something up. LOL I just had a thought of a dalmatian on a BIG Harley with a camera around his neck…LOL too funny.

Where to put it?… Well that’s up to you. Do you want to see it or only Amy? He he.

When to have it done? Well the thing to remember about
tattoos is no swimming and no sun. And remember they
itch like hell for the first couple of weeks. I think the timing only depends on the time you have free.

I hope this helps some. Good luck. Maybe we will get to see pics.

I see the Tasmanian Devil in the picture with the article. Have your thought about using him? From your writings you seem to be a little like Tas.

I don’t know much about motorcycle iconography or symbolism and the lady above had a good idea about getting the tat artist to draw something…But I vote for you putting it in a place where we can see it!!! That could be an ankle, upper arm or forearm. I got my last tat when I turned 40. Good luck and congrats.
