Galex? Again? Can’t these folks spell?

Last year, we pointed out that the official "Blue Ridge Parkway and Travel Planner," published by the Blue Ridge Parkway Association in Asheville, didn’t know how to spell Galax.
The map in the centerfold of the directory spelled it "Galex." We received a reply from the association thanking us for our eagle eye along with a promise that it would be fixed in this year’s edition.
They lied. The "60th Edition" of the guide, available at stops along the Parkway and from the Association, contains the same map with the same misspelling of "Galax." Pick up a copy and check it out. The center spread is on pages 44-45.
You gotta wonder who’s running the show down there in Asheville.
I haven’t seen this Travel Planner. Just wondering if they also spelled Hillsville “Hillsvul”? It’s obvious the mapmaker didn’t graduate from Galax High School.
Maybe every time you write to them, you could misspell “Asheville” and hope that might get through to them.
Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it’s intentional? I read that mapmakers often put in deliberate mistakes in order to be able to tell copyright infringement. I like to think the best of people. So many morons about…
…especially since they acknowledged the mistake last year and promised to fix it. Also, the map is available for download from their web site.
They seem to have fixed the spelling in the online map at their web site. I haven’t seen the directory for quite a few years. Is it possible that the page with the map is from a supply that was printed before the correction, while the rest of the directory with the 60th Edition information is from current printing? How about other references to the Galax name? Are they correct, or does Galex pop up there, too?
