Unfriendly environment for the environmentally friendly

The idea, hatched by Fred First and other members of the Sustain Floyd movement, was to put a large group of the 350 supporters in a field off Black Ridge Road and use a long telephoto lens to pull the Buffalo up close for a photo.

Mother Nature, however, had other ideas. Mother Nature is like that.

Fog shrouded the top of Floyd County’s most famous peak as the group gathered in the Nancy P. Morrissette parking lot Saturday morning for the photo.  A misty rain fell on and off. It created challenges but also added another perspective to an environmental event.

Still, we got the photo in with approaching fall colors providing additional hues to the otherwise gray day. Mission accomplished.

    Doug,

You took a beautiful photo for the 350 Action and it now goes to the United Nations. I love that little bit of cloud over Buffalo Mountain! It was a festive occasion with a serious message and I think everyone enjoyed it. Thanks, Doug, for freezing this important day in history. SustainFloyd really appreciates your artistry and patience on a day of changeable weather (a little irony).
