Palin’s petty, pathetic propaganda parade
P.T. Barnum is right: A sucker is born every minute. All you need do is witness the brain dead lemmings who show up at one of Sarah Palin’s book signing events.
As the video above shows, a bunch of them got upset with the diva of failed politics aborted her signing extravanganza in Noblesville, Indiana, and left her flawed faithful fans standing in the rain, clutching their unsigned editions of “Going Rogue” to their heaving, heartbroken bosums, chanting “sign our books” and “Sarah quits again” at petty Palin headed for another photo op.
Souless Sarah later posted on her Facebook propaganda page that she “understood” some people didn’t get their books signed and promised to make it up to them. Understood? Instead of “Going Rogue,” maybe she should changed her book title to “Going Deaf.”
Palin is scheduled to bring her side show to Roanoke Sunday for an signing at Barnes & Noble at Valley View Mall. Interestingly, those who want to try and get an book signed by the Bible-thumping sex symbol of the GOP will have to miss church to do so. Roanoke Times columnist Dan Casey has a good take on the incredible rules B&N has imposed on those who waste their time attending the book signing.
I saw a clip on one news show where they were interviewing people who were waiting in line somewhere to get books signed and the woman said being interviewed said, “I’d rather she have a talk show than be the Vice President of the United States.” Maybe she should run for Oprah’s seat in 2011.
I find it funny that the Republicans think folks on the left are afraid of Palin. It’s not that we’re afraid of her, we’re concerned that she’ll make even more of a mess of this country if she got her hands on the reins. She’s nuttier than the proverbial fruitcake. Honestly, I used to be a Republican, but any time I hear one of them talking nowadays, I just shake my head in amazement that I used to be one of them. Thankfully, I gained my senses and saw through their nonsensical BS. TOo bad the Democrats really aren’t a lot better, both parties are pretty dissapointing.
Laughs, liberls are scared of her as she connects with the commom, down to earth people of this country. We need her common sense approach and I am sure the country would do better.
Speaking of the proverbial fruitcake isn’t Pelosi synonmous with that phrase? Obama isn’t far behind, look what they have did to this country, enormous debt and what has it accomplished….NOTHING!!!!!
Lets not forget that the enormous debt came from the last administration for the past 8yrs. We finally have a President not affraid to tackle the issues on most Americans minds. Palin and the rest of the right wing radicals, Limbaugh, Hanity, Beck etc have learned what sells to the so called common people. They are rolling in the dough and laughing all the way to the bank.
The debt, for the most part, and the reasons for it were created under Bush. We had a beer drinking kind of regular guy in Bush and look where that got us. I find it hard to believe that people say Obama and the Demcrats are ruining our country with no mention of the Bush adminstration’s legacy. Obama has been president for coming on one year. Bush was in power for 8.
I’d say that Obama has done a helluva job overcoming the Bush legacy. He has managed to triple the debt and drive unemployment into double digits in less than a year.
He has managed to insult most of our allies and has bowed or embraced the worst dictators of our times.
His minions have drained the Washington swamp and have stocked it with tax-evading czars while protecting some of the most predatory congressmen and senators in history.
We have not seen such Socialist splendor since the days of FDR. Once he unionizes healthcare, it will be the “Brave New World” indeed.
Your opinions may vary. I can only go on what I have observed so far.
David St. Lawrence: Obama didn’t triple the debt. According to the Bureau of the Public Debt, by December 2008 the debt stood at $10.7 trillion, nearly double the amount as when Bush took office ($5.6 trillion). If the debt were now over $30 trillion I think we would’ve heard about it.
That’s $1.5 trillion over what it was in December 2008 or an increase of 14 percent. During Bush’s eight years in office, he increased the national debt by 100 percent. Obama has a long way to go to reach that figure but — at the rage of 14 to 15 percent a year he can top Bush’s average of 8 percent annually.
It might be possible to triple the national deficit but it will take a lot of work, even for Obama.
You’ll have to overlook David’s hyperbole Danny. He often quotes Sarah Palin’s Facebook page as fact and Fox News as a credible news source. I don’t trust any politician’s Facebook page or Twitter ravings nor do I consider any partisan “news” organization, be it MSNBC on the left or Fox on the right as credible. Both are simply mouthpieces for a particular point of view.
If you go to Ebay you will find thousands of these autographed books for sale. They have become the beany babies of 2009.
This is the essence of the rightwing voter – distracted by crap that doesn’t matter. Sarah Palin is no more relevant to good government than flag protection legislation, no-tax slogans, freedom fries, or ACORN obsession. When Sarah and her pals cry ’socialized medicine’ they want you to ignore the money they take from monopoly health insurance companies. Meanwhile my company insurance went up another 20% in a deflationary year – there is no competition in health insurance!
So are you allowing yourself to be distracted, or are you actively working to inform yourself? Are you a tool, or are you a citizen?
Thanks for catching my error. I used the word debt rather than deficit. The federal deficit has more than tripled.
The federal deficit rose as a share of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) from 3.1 percent in 2008 to 9.9 percent in 2009—the highest deficit as a share of GDP since 1945.
The federal government recorded a total budget deficit of $1.4 trillion in fiscal year 2009, about $960 billion more than the deficit incurred in 2008.

David:
That CBO study you cite notes that the swing from the surplus that George W. Bush inherited when he took office in 2001 quickly became a deficit because of his economic program of tax cuts and increased government spending. The CBO study notes that it was Bush’s programs that drove the nation from a surplus economy to a deficit one and Obama’s decision to continue some of Bush’s programs that compounded the error.
Notes University of California economist Alan Auerbach, an expert on government deficits:
It is the nature of partisans to blame the other side for a problem while overlooking their own side’s contribution to that same problem. The problem is the system, not the party. The problem is a society that places partisanship above the best interests of a nation.
We can argue all day about who did what and what party is at fault. If we are all honest we would agree that almost every politician is at fault for the mess America is in. Power has become more important than a government that works for the people. In my view both Bush and Obama are following a similar course. Both have ignored the problems of the American people while running up debt so fast it makes my head spin. I think the fascination with Palin comes from the need of ” average joes” to feel like they are doing something to make a difference and change the course of this country.
As Capitol Hill Blue has pointed out, there are a lot of Democrats out there who have been looking at what Obama is doing and not doing and saying, “Wha-huh?”
is how I’ve heard the Obama presidency described.
Expanded wiretaps, expanded wars, more bailouts for Wall Street, more intervention in business…
Government is built on the idea that politicians can take your money, and if you resist you are jailed. Why should we assume they serve us?
