Rain, wind and power outages

The rain fell, the wind blew, tornado warnings spread and power went out throughout the area overnight Tuesday as Mother Nature continues to inflict her wrath.

Over half and inch fell on Floyd County over the last 24 hours and some will say it felt and sounded like a lot more.

Tree limbs scatter roads and yard.  More than 130 electric customers remained in the dark at 10 a.m. Wednesday, joining more than 1,400 others throughout the region.  Floyd had more than 250 just after daylight.

Power outages increased overnight as the hard rains and high winds downed power lines and caused other problems.

The tornado alert faded away shortly after midnight with no reports of sightings.

Showers return Thursday before sun and warmer temperatures are forecast for the weekend.
