Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes softball team shut out Glenvar 17-0 Friday to reach the 2A Conference 38 finals against James River High Saturday and then were shut out 5-0 by the Knights.

But the Lady Buffs are still in the regional playoffs because of their record and will face Dan River in Danville Monday afternoon.

The Lady Buffs had chances to score and filled the bases but couldn’t bring a run home.  Ashley Gallimore threw several strikeouts but also walked hitters, allowed a single home run and a three run home plus walked a runner home.  Reliever Mary Phillips retired batters in a row in the sixth, allowed one runner on base but no runs in her two innings.

While the conference championship slipped through the team’s figures, the Lady Buffs are still in the hunt for a state championship.
