Yep, there is still basketball on area courts, or at least a final game this Spring of regional all stars for the inaugural Western Virginia Basketball Officials Association event held at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke.

Two of Floyd County’s top players — seniors Michael Osborne and Evan Davis —  put their skills at work for the River Ridge/Three Rivers team.  Osborne led the team in three point scores with five long shots and 15 points.  Davis had six points but their team fell 108-84 to Blue Ridge/Pioneer.

Players for both games said the score wasn’t important.  They had a chance to play with others who were competitors during the season and had a fun basketball that raised funds for scholarships to four students: two boys and two girls.

In a girls all-star match-up, River Ridge/Three Rivers beat Blue Ridge/Pioneer 75-52.  Two players from the Lady Buffaloes, which reached the State Semi-Finals last month, were invited to participate but declined, a WVBOA official said.
