Floyd dominates national attention even more than usual this week with FloydFest 16 — Dreamweavin’ on stage, in campgrounds and on the mark just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at 856 Rock Castle Gorge.

The five days of activities got underway Wednesday and continues around the clock until Sunday evening, featuring legends like Gregg Allman, the Wood Brothers and Aerial.  Longtime rockers like Railroad Earth took the Dreaming Creek State (along with rain) Thursday night and Allman is expected to bring out the crowd on Saturday.

While FloydFest dominated the weekend activities in these final days of July, there are other events as well to bring out those looking for fun throughout the area.

Floyd Artisan Market kicks off Friday night in downtown Floyd at the Community Market Pavilion at 205 S. Locust from 5-9 pm.

The Friday Night Jamboree brings out the old time and bluegrass fans at The Floyd County Store at 206 S. Locust, starting with The Reese Family Gospel at 6:30 and the Black Twig Pickers on stage from 7:30 to 9 pm.
