Dustin Thompson puts in three points of his 19 for the night.

Floyd County High School’s Varsity Buffaloes basketball team broke into the winning ranks Monday night at home with a 75-68 hard-fought game with four players scoring in double digits.

Dustin Thompson led scoring with 19, followed by Cayden Sutphin with 16, Ian Bary with 11 along with Austin Gallimore.

Thompson and Sutphin each put in a trio of three pointers and Preston Neukich one.

The win broke a five-game winless run by the Buffaloes as they head into a game with Blackburg at FCHS Wednesday night.

The Buffs won throughout the game with a 20-18 tally at the end of the first quarter, 36-32 at the half and 52-49 at the end of three.

The JV trailed into the break after two quarters but came on strong in the second half to win 61-50.
