Warm, sunny days ahead for Spring

The temperature on the back porch this Friday morning is 23 degrees and the National Weather Service in Blacksburg says it “feels” like 23 degrees because the wind outside is about two miles per hour.

That is one hell of a change from the blustery winds that added a frigid wind chill to the low temperatures earlier this week and sent the “feel” to below zero.

By noon, the weather service says, the thermometer should read 20 degrees higher — 43 degrees — and it expected to climb to 48 or perhaps even 50 by 5 p.m.  It could be at least partly sunny in the morning with clouds moving in for the afternoon.

Showers, we are told, should move into Floyd County around 9 p.m. but the thermometer will be at 43 degrees and will stray pretty much around that figure overnight.

Saturday will bring even more of a warming trend with a high around 59 and a low of 32, followed by a high of 48 on Sunday with a partly cloudy sky.

Monday, however, is expected to bring a high of 65 with sunny conditions and a low that night of 49.

By the way, Monday will also be the first day of Spring.
