Good morning America how are you?
The morning sun burns off fog from Little River in Floyd County. Morning mist and fog are normal along the river this time of year but the haze quickly burns away under the sun of an approaching summer.
Light

The morning creates light patterns on a stream that feeds the Little River in Floyd County. It is that time of day when light is replacing darkness and neither the camera or the eye have fully adjusted to the change.
Morning run

A horse takes a morning run in the morning sun along Poor Farm Road in Floyd County.
Some velvet morning when I’m straight

Morning light on the tulips that line our driveway. The long Memorial Day weekend is upon us. Start of the tourist season. Start of the summer season. School will be out soon and the lazy, hazy days of summer descend on the mountains of Southwestern Virginia.
Little River Morning

Sunrise on the Little River near Christiansburg Pike (Virginia Route 615) in Floyd County, one of the few places where the river flows through flatlands in the rolling hills and mountains.
Web weaver

Spider works on his web in our backyard on a sunlit morning.
Gazebo
Well. We did it. Bought a gazebo for the front yard. Yoders will deliver it on Tuesday.
Now all we have to do is find a place flat enough to put it. On our yard, that ain’t easy. Anybody got a backhoe?
Lawn goodies
Bought a picnic table and new swing from Yoder’s Amish Woodcrafters between Hillsville and Galax. We will pick it up on Wednesday.
We’re thinking of adding a gazebo to the front yard as well. Can’t help it. All that expanse of yard drives me crazy.
Moonlit rocks
The light from a full moon plays tricks with rocks and water on a stream near Sandy Flats Road in Floyd County. No, this image was not altered in Photoshop. I simply changed the white balance on my Canon EOS1Ds Mark II to tungsten to provide altered colors and then stepped up the gain to saturate the colors. We used to do the same thing with film, using indoor color slide film, for example, for outdoor shots.
Full moon madness
Full moon last night and if you needed a good example of full moon madness all you needed to do was watch NASCAR’s Nextel All-Star Race in Charlotte.
