A Floyd Friday night

The Floyd Country Store began two days of grand reopening celebration Friday Night with bluegrass legend,Wayne Henderson (above) on stage for the Friday Nite Jamboree.

The celebrations continue today not only at the Country Store but throughout Floyd with an ice cream social sponsored by the Partnership for Floyd and tours of the new businesses and attractions that have sprung up in town.

The businesses were open Friday night but the main attraction was music -- lots of it up and down the stretch of Locust Street that is Floyd's Music Row.

At Cafe del Sol Atticus Stovall (right) entertained with his blues guitar while up the street at Oddfellas Cantina owner Rob Neukirch joined Bernie Coveney and Chris Luster on stage for an energetic set.

The music continues tonight with King Wilkie at the Country Store and on Sunday with New Riders of the Purple Sage at Winter Sun.

In Floyd, the music never stops.

Windfall's CD release party

Windfall, the musical quartet of Dave Fason (above), Michael and Kari Thomas Kovick (below) and Rusty May, released their new CD Saturday night with a concert at the Floyd Country Store.

The Country Store is fast becoming the venue for CD release parties by local musicians. Scott Perry released his earlier with a Saturday night concert earlier this month. I was out of town and couldn't make that one but Windfall's music is always enjoyable and I was able to shoot both photos and video (the video will be posted shortly).
