My 2009 Harley Super Glide hit 59,000 miles this past weekend and will total 60,000 by this Sunday.
In a normal week in Spring, summer and fall , I ride at least 1,000 miles. That’s 4k a month. Last year was a short year (23,700 miles) because I was off the bike for three-and-a-half months for back problems.
I like to ride. My motorcycle is also my daily driver. It gets up to 50 miles-per-gallon and it’s a lot more fun to ride than driving a four-wheeler. I put less than 2,000 miles on my Wrangler last year.
When you live in the country and use a motorcycle as daily transportation the miles add up quickly.
And it’s fun. Driving a car is boring. Sitting entombed in an air-conditioned cocoon is not my idea of fun transportation and life is way too short to not have fun in what you do — even if it is just getting from point A to point B.
