The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports snow and ice covered roads in Floyd County and U.S. 221 was closed overnight between Routes 642 and 610 (Daniels Run Road) because of downed power lines.

The highway reopened early this morning but VDOT reports slick spots on 221, Rte. 8 and secondary roads in the county.

Students don’t return to Floyd County schools until Wednesday so the weather and road conditions aren’t affecting students today.
