Supervisors name Clinger as new chairman, Allen as vice chair

Supervisor Chairman Case Clinger

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors elected first-term Courthouse Supervisor to the chairmanship Tuesday and second-term Little River representative Virgel Allen as vice chairman.

The Board also voted to expand its meeting schedule to two meetings a month: A day meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday and an evening session starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday.

Newly-elected Courthouse supervisor Lauren Yoder introduced the proposal to change the meeting schedule, saying he hoped evening meetings would increase citizen participation.  The public comment period at recent meetings have drawn a wide variety of opinions from county citizens as hot-button issues like wind turbines, the revised comprehensive plan and property rights emerge.

A full story on the meeting appears in this week’s Floyd Press along with my compilation video (above) on the paper’s web site.
