Glenvar knocks Floyd County out of Region C playoffs

Three times this season, Glenvar High School faced Floyd County’s mighty Lady Buffs basketball team and came away empty.   Glenvar lost to Floyd twice in the regular season and again in the District Tournament final a week ago.

But the fourth time wasn’t a charm for the Floyd County, which came into Friday night’s Region C semi-final ranked number one in the state and appearing on an inevitable march to the state finals in Richmond next month.

This time around, Glenvar proved a match for Floyd, downing he Lady Buffs 70-60 in a hard-fought game in Radford.  So Glenvar plays Patrick Henry for the Regional title tonight and — win or lose — moves on to the state sectionals next week.

  1. I think I speak for all Floyd Co folks when I say we are proud of the way the team played this year. Last night was just one of those odd games where everything goes wrong no matter what you try. One thing was abundantly clear last night, they didn’t lose because of lack of effort. Good job this year Lady Buffs, you always gave it your very best.
