County budget hearing draws support for Crooked Road, arts funding

Retired Floyd County art teacher Catherine Pauley speaks in support of funding for the Crooked Road and other arts and music projects.

Six Floyd County residents spoke at a public hearing Tuesday night on the proposed budget for the new fiscal year that begins on July 1.

Five of those speakers urged the board to restore a $10,000 grant for the Southwest Virginia organization that promotes the Crooked Road, ‘Round the Mountain and other activities.

Following the hearing, the Supervisors voted unanimously to restore the grant.  My story on the hearing is in this week’s Floyd Press.

The video above is the full, unedited presentations of all six speakers.
