Saturday’s power report: 187 APCO customers still waiting for electricity in Floyd County; 34,329 in Virginia

At least 187 customers in Floyd County remained dark early Saturday as Appalachian Power again missed a deadline for restoring electricity to all homes and businesses in the area.

Throughout the region, 34,329 APCO customers are still waiting for electricity after the massive wind storm that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands eight days ago.

APCO claims Thursday’s storms added 17,000 customers to the powerless rolls and complicated efforts to have power restored to all homes and businesses.

The new deadline set by the company estimates that power will be back on for 95 percent of customers by Sunday.
