Warnings of a sobriety checkpoint greeted those traveling to FloydFest Friday morning but the sign appeared to be leftover from Thursday night’s checkpoint along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was clear all the way to the festival site.

The warnings did not deter festival goers who flocked to the grounds Friday.  Neither did a thunderstorm.  By Friday night, some 12,500 hard souls packed the site — a sellout crowd.
