Better keep your day gigs

Former Gov. Mark Warner and current guv Tim Kaine cut up on stage with the Jugbusters at the Friday Night Jamboree in Floyd on, you guessed it, Friday night. Kaine (left) is a pretty good harmonica player but neither he nor Warner will give any local musicians any competition on stringed instruments. Let's just say they were all thumbs on the banjo and guitar but you expect politicians to be good song and dance men.

Still, both had a good time at the Country Store and the crowd was into the quasi-political event largely because they kept the political rhetoric at a minimum and gave everyone a good show. As politicians go, both are engaging crowd pleasers and both remain the only governors who have visited Floyd while in office (Warner in 2005 and Kaine this year).

That's gotta count for something even in these cynical times.
