Helping a good man

More than 150 motorcyclists and friends turned out Saturday to ride for Tim Worrell, the Bent Mountain Fire Department chief battling esophageal cancer.

The ride raised more than $5,000 to help the firefighter with 31 years on the job.

As the long parade of motorcycles and custom hotrods, escorted by fire trucks, rode south on U.S. 221 from Bent Mountain, through Floyd County and into Carroll County to Dugspur Road towards Kanawha Valley Arean and Campground, cars stopped alongside the road and onlookers waved.

Firetrucks blocked intersections in Floyd, Willis and Dugspur to allow the caravan to proceed without stopping.
