Today is the first of what will be several rounds of assessments and judgments by those who hold much of the keys to my future — followup appointments with the doctors, therapists and others who have taken care of me since the motorcycle accident last fall.
Included in today’s appointments is a meeting with the plastic surgeon who put my face back together, the orthopedic surgeon who pieced the multiple broken bones in my right leg back into place and the trauma team who kept me alive in the early days of hospitalization.
Their goals: Assess my progress in rehab and judge whether or not I can move to the next step in the progress towards a normal life in the future.
Nervous? Of course. This won’t be the final judgement day. Just the first of several.

Doug, it’s so good to finally read new posts on your website, and to know that you’re on the road to recovery. Many, many prayers have been lifted, and answered, on your (and Amy’s) behalf. I wish you a speedy recovery in the new year.
Glad to “see” you back on The Muse, hope all goes well today!
You’ll do just fine, Doug and many fans are rooting for you…
Keep it up Doug. You have the strength to make it through it and after meeting Amy, I know she will be there for you. We’re praying for you and know God is watching over you. 🙂 He brought you this far and will keep you strong.
