Floyd County may be a small rural area but you would never have known it in Richmond this past week with the large community turnout for the Lady Buffaloes as they won both games of the final four to take the State Championship on girls’ basketball.
Large, enthusiastic crowds marked the team’s march to the state capital and the crowd included not only current Floyd County residents but past folks who called the place home, including Randy Hallman (below), a member of the family that once owned The Floyd Press and who is a long-time member of the Richmond Times-Dispatch staff.
That show of community support appeared again when the Lady Buffs returned from Richmond late Saturday night. A turnout of fans greeted the teams in downtown Floyd.
