Pine Tavern rocked Saturday night with the sounds of Sonic Safari as the popular county eatery celebrated its second annual Dysfunctional Family Picnic.

The event, conceived by local raconteur Tom Ryan, who tends bar at the Pine on Friday and Saturday nights, included incredible gumbo, peel and eat shrimp, and a lot of dancing and partying.

Ryan had also planned the first annual gathering of Floyd County "All Stars" musicians but had to cancel that event because too many of the proposed all stars aren't speaking to each other -- a malady that seems to affect musicians.

Maybe he should have included them in the Dysfunctional Family Picnic.

Talk about fulfilling a need.
