Lived in the St. Louis area for 11 years and, during that tenure, the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team never finished above .500. The year after we left (1982), they won the division, the NL pennant and the World Series. Moved to Washington. Lots of talk about bringing baseball back to the area. Talked for 23 years. Nada. Now we're leaving the area and the Montreal Expos are moving to DC next year. Think we're seeing a pattern here.
