Is Mother Nature the latest terrorist to threaten us?

111309floodingOne of Floyd County’s roofing contractors said last week that the unending barrage of rain, thunderstorms and flooding has delayed start of his summer projects by weeks.

When the rain doesn’t stop, contractors can’t even get scaffolding in place to start work.

Farmers report they are behind in getting hay in because the fields are too wet. Work on road projects by the Virginia Department of Transportation is behind.  Pavement, battered by unending flows of water, is breaking up.

In Roanoke Wednesday, rescue workers had to save people from swamped cars caught in raging waters from backed-up storm drains and swollen creeks.  Water and debris clogged roads.

Is Mother Nature the latest terrorist to threaten us?

  1. Mother Nature is certainly more powerful than we are but respect, not fear, is what I think we should have for her. If global warming is not manmade, then it is a natural warming of the earth. Either way, we need to realize we are virtually powerless to do anything about it.
