Cooler weather for August? Seems that way right now

080513weatherBy August standards, it’s cool this morning — just 59 degrees on our back porch right now and the National Weather Service is predicting a high of around 78.

The forecast calls for cooler nights and daytime highs that max out around 81 — much cooler than we normally expect for this time of year.

But the weather also calls for scattered thunderstorms throughout the week, so the season of rain continues even it the traditional season of oppressive August heat does not — at least for the moment.

Some 50 years ago, my granddaddy used to say that if you didn’t like the weather around here, just wait:  It sill change soon enough.
