
Floyd County High School’s varsity football team fell to 1-3 Friday night with a 28-6 loss to Wythe County at home is a drizzling rain fell.
The Buffaloes scored their only points in the first quarter on a 38-yard touchdown run by quarterback Matt Bary but missed the point after kick. But Floyd led until late in the second quarter when a 60 yard tun by Elijah Oaks resulted in a touchdown by GW to put the team ahead 9-6. Floyd County blocked GW’s point-after kick but the Wytheville team went on to add 19 more points in the third quarter.
Bary had another 100 yard plus game with 119 on 14 carries. Oaks had 215 yards on 10 carries for George Wythe.
Floyd faces Blacksburg at home next Friday.
