On Tuesday morning, the temporary stop lights and traffic barriers on the bridge near the intersection of U.S. 221 and Shooting Creek Road north of Floyd were gone and the replacement bridge — under construction for more than a year — was open and serving traffic.

Having spent over 30 years in industrial construction, I’m familiar with construction costs. It scares me to think what the tax payers payed for that bridge.

Took a long time…Was screwed up and that’s why it is so big…Im sure the contractor ate some of the cost.
