As expected Floyd County High School golfer Amanda Hollandsworth took the state 2A individual championship at Shenandoah Golf Club in Front Royal Tuesday with a 73 and overall score of 143.

Hollandsworth lost the lead for a while Tuesday when second place Zach Toohey of Graham pulled off an double eagle by holing out his approach shot on the par-5 ninth hole.

But Hollandsworth closed out with a strong finish and a birdie on the 18th to win by six shots over Toohey.

Hollandsworth, who attends Virginia Tech next year, joins sister Jessica, who won individual state championships twice as an FCHS golfer.

Overall, the Floyd team finished third in the championship.
