The National Weather Service over the weekend confirmed what a lot of us already knew: We’ve had a lot of rain this year.
The NWS says 28.5 inches of rain fell on Southwest Virginia since the first of the year: 17.5 inches of that in the last three months alone. That’s more than three inches above normal and more than six inches over what we got last year.
While the rain brings some relief to the dry conditions of the last few years, we need more steady rainfall to bring the water table up to normal.
I’m betting we get it.
