Looks like some cold, nasty weather ahead

011510iceFloyd County could be headed for low temperatures below zero and nasty winter weather by Monday is current forecasts for the area hold.

After a projected high of 40 on Saturday and 45 on Sunday, bitter cold is expected to move into the area with a high of 29 on Monday with a projected low of two degrees before zero, then only 21 on Tuesday and a low overnight.

Then temperatures will start creeping back up with a high of 40 projected for Wednesday.

Rain on Sunday could turn into freezing rain with the possibility of snow on Monday and Tuesday.

  1. Doug, now may be a good time to tell some of the newcomers about the winter talked about by old timers when the temperature dropped to -25 degrees, sometime in the 1980s. This might give readers some perspective on what winter in Floyd County can really be like.
