The high winds that swept through Southwestern Virginia Wednesday left thousands without power, toppled trees and scattered leaves, branches, lawn chairs and God-knows-what else throughout the region. Power outages struck several sections of Floyd County. Up to 1,700 homes in Floyd County remained without power early today. A high wind advisory from the National Weather Service was supposed to expire at 4 a.m. but has now been extended to 6 p.m. today. Hold on to your hats.
