Floyd County High School’s varsity Buffaloes basketball team, coming off a loss in Pulaski Saturday, fought back against a determined Auburn team Monday at home and won 69-61.
After the lead bounced back and fourth in the first two quarters, Floyd lead by just one point, 27-26 at the half and then outscored Auburn by small margin in the third and fourth quarters to come away with the eight-point win.
Caleb Tanner led scoring with 24 points, Justin Cundiff added 13, Will Cook 10 and Preston Neukirch eight. Cundiff and Neukirch had two three-point goals each.
The win gives the Buffaloes a 10-2 overall record and a 2-0 in the district.
In a day with four games on the schedule at FCHS, the Floyd teams went 4 for 4 with the JV Buffaloes winning along with both boys and girls eighth-grade teams.
