Just enough snow and slick roads to close schools

011614snowAs snows go, the white stuff that fell overnight was not that much, but it was enough to close schools Thursday in Floyd County — a decision made by officials Wednesday night.

About an inch fell at our house and reports from other parts of the county say amounts ran from one to three inches.  Temperatures in the teens create slick and icy conditions Thursday morning so putting school buses on the road was probably not a good idea.

With temperatures forecast in the low 40s today and back below freezing tonight, some of the white stuff may stick around and Saturday is scheduled to be cold with a high around 34.
