Baby, it’s cold outside and getting colder

011510iceThe difference between Thursday morning’s low and the projected high is four degrees.

That’s right.  Four degrees.

With a low of about 14 and projected high of 18 the cold snap continues and the projected low for overnight Thursday is two degrees with the strong possibility of below zero lows at higher elevations in Floyd County.

Welcome to winter in the Blue Ridge mountains.

If the current weather forecast holds, the thermometer will start a slow clumb back up on Friday, reaching a projected high of 23, followed by 33 on Saturday and 41 on Sunday before dipping back to 31 on Sunday and back into the teens next week.

With luck, the highs climb back to 40 on Thursday — the last day of January — and 42 on the first day of February.

Baby, it’s cold outside.  Bundle up.
