Lady Buffs dominate Giles in conference semi-final

Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffs, heading into the Conference 38 playoffs as the top seed, picked up where they left off in a 20-1 regular season, pasting the Giles Spartans 94-26 in the semi-finals and ready to face Martinsville in Friday’s finale at home.

Carley Lytton led scoring with 21 points and a dozen other members of the team contributed scores in a rout that saw the Lady Buffs lead 23-4 at the end of the first quarter and 45-10 at the half.

Floyd led the night in three point goals as well, scoring five as Lytton and Hannah Belshan each had two and Christine Phillips one.  Phillips scroed 13 points for the night and Caitland Worley 10.

The boys’ varsity also faces Giles tonight in their semi-finals and are favored to advance to the finals on Friday.
