The Buffaloes and Lady Buffs basketball teams from Floyd County High School enter the Virginia High School League 2A Regional playoffs this week with hopes of continuing a march towards Richmond and the state final match in Richmond on March 15.

The Lady Buffs, the Conference 38 champion and ranked number one in the region, host Gretna tonight in the girls tournament opener at Floyd County High School at 6:30 p.m.

Winners of that game will face another playoffs opener finalist winner from Gate City at Floyd on Thursday night and FCHS will host the regional final on Saturday night.

For the Buffaloes, who finished as runner-up to Martinsville in the conference final last Friday night, the journey is on the road, opening Wednesday night against Dan River in Danville.

Let the games begin.
