
Lots of action in Floyd for the weekend.
The annual chili cook-off, sponsored by the Floyd Rotary Club, serves up competing concoctions behind the United Methodist Church on Main Street from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
The cook-off features competition between the county’s volunteer fire department and the rescue squad.
On Saturday, the last Floyd Radio Show for the current season gets underway at the Country Store at 7:30 p.m. and features guests Alice Gerrard, Cliffe Hale and Sandy LaPrelle along with hosts Elizabeth LaPrelle and Anna Roberts-Gevalt.
After the May broadcast, the Internet-based radio show goes on a summer hiatus September.
The 16-Hands Studio Tour is this weekend, featuring work at studios of various Floyd County artists throughout the county.
The Friday Night Jamboree features Janet Turner and Friends for the Gospel Hour starting at 6:30 p.m., then Mac Traynham and Friends from 7:30 – 9:00 and the Jugbusters from 9:00 to 10:30 or so.
Americana Afternoon at the Country Store on Saturday features the music of Scott Perry and his students at noon, bluegrass band wound tight at 1:30 and Franklin Countians Seph and TJ at 2:30.
Dogtown Roadhouse features the Color J on Friday night and Riverbank Ramblers on Saturday.
Floyd County also celebrates Earth Day at the Eco-Village on Saturday.
