Labor Day:  The end of summer.  With football games officially starting on this holiday weekend and events scheduled throughout the region, it is viewed by many as a last gasp of summer and the beginning of fall with a bang.

Weather is expected to be good on Friday and Saturday with growing chances of rain on Sunday and Monday.

In Hillsville, the “mother of all flea markets” fills the streets, parking areas and vendor fields with the Carroll County Flea Market and Gun Show.”  The three-days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) brings thousands upon thousands to Hillsville.

Floyd County Yoga Jam kicked off on Thursday in Indian Valley and runs through Sunday, adding yoga and meditation to arts & crafts, music and more.

In Floyd, the Friday Night Jamboree brings music to the stage of The Floyd Country Store and on the streets, starting at 6:30 p.m.  Featured acts on stage include Reese Family Gospel, The Friday Night Old Time Band and The Snow Creek Old Time Band,

Floyd County High School kicks off its football season in Hillsville at Carroll County High School at 7 p.m.

Justin Payne performs at Dogtown Roadhouse at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Britt Mistele, David Simpkins, Ron Ireland and Mike Pearrel perform in “Songwriting in the Round” at America Afternoon at the Floyd Country Store.

Oak Grove Pavilion closes out its summer music series with The Floyd-Montgomery Jazz Project on stage at 7 p.m.

Butch Robins brings his five-string mastery to Dogtown Roadhouse on Saturday at 8 p.m.
