Floyd County’s Jerry Wimmer comes from a musical family in a music area and now sings lead for Roanoke’s The Worx, which came to his hometown Sunday afternoon to headline the kickoff of the Fire Department’s Station 1’s “Ignite” series at Lineberry Park on Locust Street.

Wimmer ventured into the crowd often and those who attended responded with dancing, sing-alongs and more for the three-hour concert that was followed by more musical numbers at Dogtown Roadhouse.

Musical fans young and old danced to the pounding music that mixed rock, country, hip hop and more.

Wimmer told the crowd that the show was his first in Floyd with the band but he hoped it would not be the last.
