Human remains were found by Chesterfield police Saturday near Old Lynchburg Road not far from Charlottesville in Albermarle County but tests are needed to determine if they are the body of missing University of Virginia Hannah Graham.
Police sources say they believe the remains are of Graham and have notified her family and now are classifying the case as a death.
Graham, the sophomore who disappeared from the downtown mall of Charlottesville after a night of partying with students on September 13.
The attractive 18-year-old was last seen with former UVA hospital aide Jesse Leroy Matthew, who is under arrest and in jail on charges of abduction of Graham with intent to defile.
Matthew is also linked in the disappearance of Morgan Harrington, a Virginia Tech student who went missing from a rock concert at UVa in 2009 and police are continuing to investigate other possible links with other missing women in central Virginia.
