The threat of a natural gas pipeline in Floyd County appears to have passed — at least for now — but it remains a reality to neighbors affected by the current proposed route that runs from West Virginia to Chatham.
Giles, Pulaski, Montgomery, Roanoke and Franklin counties still face the bulldozers and environmental impact, so Preserve Floyd and others who helped stop the pipeline running through Floyd County put together a “Stop the Frackin’ Pipeline” benefit concert featuring celebrated banjo picker Butch Robbins and fiddle player Sam Kephart at the Floyd Country Store Saturday night.
