Yes, that’s snow on the ground.

No, this is not Thursday — Thanksgiving Day — when the weather forecasters and “meteorologists” said was the day that snow “might or might not” arrive in our area.

A mess of accidents for commuters using Virginia Rte. 8 between Floyd and Montgomery County and also along U.S. 221 towards Roanoke.  Two inches and more of the wet, sticking stuff on the ground throughout the area .

It started as rain but turned to snow early Wednesday,, bringing one to two inches and hazardous roads because the Virginia Department of Transportation was getting ready for a Thursday snowfall, not a Wednesday coating of white.

Traffic is moving and temperatures are just above freezing.  The snow is expected to be moderate to heavy through early afternoon, sometimes dropping more than an inch an hour before switching to rain.
