Yeah baby, it’s cold outside

The thermometer reads 14 degrees and the wind chill sits at about 2 degrees this morning: The high today might hit 24. That’s cold by anyone’s standards.

And the next few days don’t look any better:

  • Sunday: High 23, low 13;
  • Monday: High 29, low 15;
  • Tuesday: High 29, low 16;
  • Wednesday: High 33, low 16;
  • Thursday; High 30,low 16;
  • Friday, High 28, low 14.

The wind chill will put the “real feel” at below zero on some nights next week.  Warming temperatures are not expected until Monday, January 11 when the high is expected to be about 41.

Bundle up. It’s going to be cold.

  1. 6.4 degrees here this morning, Doug (Sunday morn). Watching Frank Strait’s southern video blog last evening after returning home from the Chance Harman basketball tourney leaves me little hope for much warmth anytime soon. According to Frank, we’ll have a very marginal warm-up (to low 30s) with snow, followed by an even colder blast next week. According to him, even areas around Charlotte could see single digits temps (not wind chills) with the next blast.

    I guess we’ve all become spoiled with nearly 15 years of above-normal winter temps. I’m already sick of wind, cold and snow and we’re only 13 days into the winter season. Oh well, time to vegetate under a warm blanket and look at my seed catalogs and dream of spring warmth.
