Last season, Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes basketball teams ventured down to North Carolina to meet the ladies of Bishop McGuiness — a private Catholic school with a reputation for championship form.
It was a rare defeat for the Lady Buffs in a season that took the team to the regionals before elimination.
McGuiness returned this year and found tougher going against the Buffaloes, which led by just one point — 27-26 at the half and then won 72-65 in a see-saw battle in an afternoon game.
It was a rough match between two championship caliber teams.
And, oh yes, the Lady Buffs JV team won as well.
