In Floyd County, the music at parties for New Year’s Eve Wednesday night ranged from The Grateful Dead to traditional, old-time tunes along with some gospel.

Deadheads flocked to Pine Tavern to dance to The Kind while The Zephyr Lightning Bolts and The Route 8 Ramblers provided old-time tunes and gospel at The Floyd Country Store. Those who wanted to party also found music at Rays and other locations.

Some celebrated the arrival 0f 2015 with libations while others enjoyed non-alcoholic beverages like Sparkling cider and grape juice.

And while crowds packed Times Square in New York, the streets of Floyd were empty with those celebrated inside where it was warm.
